Residents Continue to Enjoy Lowest Electric Rates in the Nation
01/09/2004
Kentucky residents
continued to benefit from the lowest residential electric rates in
the nation during 2002. The latest data from the U.S. Department of
Energy's Energy Information Administration shows that Kentuckians
paid an overall average residental electric rate of 5.65 cents per
kWh (killowatt hour) during 2002. For 2002, the national residential
average rate of 8.46 cents per kWh was 49.7% higher than Kentucky's
rate.
That good fortune
appears to be in the cards for 2003. Through August of 2003,
Kentuckians paid an overall average residential electric rate of
5.76 cents per kWh. The national residential average rate for the
same time period was 8.71 cents per kWh - 51.2% higher than
Kentucky's rate.
